The Richland Police Department Hiring Process

What are the steps to becoming a Richland Police Officer? 

The following is an outline of the hiring process for a successful candidate:

STEP 1 – Complete the Personal History Statement

STEP 2 – Applicant Interview with First Line Supervisors

STEP 3 – Successful Background Investigation

STEP 4 - Fingerprints

STEP 5 - Psychological Exam (Based upon lapse of Time-of-Service)

STEP 6 – Conditional Job Offer

STEP 7 – Final Interview with the Chief of Police

  • After a successful meeting with the Chief, a TCOLE certified candidate is given an appointment date and sworn in.
