Property Release Notifications

In accordance with current state law, the Richland Police Department is providing public notice of any abandoned or unclaimed property in its possession.

Items that remain unclaimed after the required holding period will be disposed of as allowed by law.

If you believe you may have property held by the Richland Police Department or have questions about the process, please contact Corporal Christian Lopez at 903-362-3707.

NOTE: On the 91st day after the date of any notice, the property will be forfeited and disposed of pursuant to Article 18.17, Disposition of Abandoned or Unclaimed Property, Texas Code of Criminal Procedure.

Property Eligible for Release

The following property, currently being held in the Richland Police Department Property Room, located at 103 W. Main St. Richland, TX 76681, is eligible for release.

Release of property is by appointment only. Please email to schedule an appointment. Appointments are available Monday - Friday 9:00am to 3:00pm.

Please allow 5 business days for response. 

Important:

• Proof of ownership required.
• You must bring valid identification to claim any property.
• You may authorize someone to claim property on your behalf by providing a notarized written statement granting permission, along with a list of the specific items they are permitted to pick up.
• The designated person must be named in your written statement and present a photo ID when claiming the property.

For found property, bicycles, and stolen recovered property, claimant may provide proof of ownership in any of the following ways:

• Verify the serial number of the item.

• Present a dated receipt of purchase of the item.

• Present a prior stolen/lost property report with a police agency for the item.

• Show a photograph with him/herself and the item in it.

• Describe unique characteristics of the item.

• Provide an access code or combination to unlock the item.
