RICHLAND/ANGUS MUNICIPAL COURT

The Municipal court is the judicial brand of the city government. In addition, the municipal court is part of the state judicial system.

The municipal court processes and adjudicates all Class "C" misdemeanor violations of state law and city ordinances that occur within the corporate limits of the city. All traffic violations issued by the city are processed by the court. Punishment for these offenses is by fine only.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Case Management: The court manages records of all traffic and misdemeanor cases, processes fines, prepares legal documents, and schedules trials.
  • Customer Service & Efficiency: The court facilitates payment processing, issues overdue fine notices, and ensures that witnesses, attorneys, and defendants are properly notified of court dates (whether virtual, bench, or jury trials).
  • Community Safety: The Municipal Court plays a critical role in enforcing court orders and supporting public safety through efficient case handling.
